The Bust of Nefertiti is located at the Neues Museum in Berlin. Her Bust was found by Ludwig Borchardt, a German archeologist, in 1912. Nefertiti was found with other artifacts in the workshop of Thutmose. The Bust is made from limestone and covered with stucco. Her Bust was kept secret until 1923. In 1939 the Museum was closed due to WWII. She was moved many times. On March 6, 1945 the bust was moved to a German salt mine at Merkers-Kieselbach in Thuringia. In 1945 the Bust was found by the American Army and given to the Monuments, Fine Arts and Archives branch. In 1956 Nefertiti was given to the Dahlem Museum in West Berlin. In October of 2009 Nefertiti’s Bust was returned to the Neues Museum.
